Cranky's New Toy

This is what Cranky bought while I was out of town. He calls it his "starter" bike since he only rode dirt bikes in his younger days. His next bike has already been found, and may also be in the garage by the end of the weekend.

If not, I'm flying again on Tuesday...

I'm not much of a Harley/chopper guy, nor do I think much of crotch rockets. This is a 1978 Honda CB550k. It's very retro with Cafe Racer potential.

The gas tank is from a '74 and doesn't fit quite right. I'm buying some original parts including a tank. I'm going to paint the tank black with no emblems. Old motorcycles should be black and chrome.

btw-NSCY is out buying a new car right now.

Motorcycles: I've never been on one, and always wanted to! Somehow the opportunity always escapes me. Looks like fun, though!

The cool thing is that the only reason Cranky bought it is because it's economical on gas.

My reaction: Whoa! (raised eyebrows)
My husband's reaction: Nice! (envious smile)

OK....this one brings out the "Gear Head" in me! A 550 4? wow! I did not think there were many of those around. If he is doing a full restoration it may be worth some money in a few years. Honda redefined the whole road bike market when the introduced their 4 cylinder bikes.

One thing about growing up with older brothers, you learn how to ride and repair motorcycles! *L*L*L*
