Four albums you cannot live without: This is a hard one since I don't listen to music this way anymore. I make mix CDs for the car and listen to my MP3 player when running or at work. Current artists on my MP3 player include Pearl Jam, Alannis Morrisette, Aerosmith, Counting Crows, and Boston, etc for running. I also sleep (during my break of course) while crossing the Atlantic to a mix of Elton John, Doobies, Fleetwood Mac, Rolling Stones and the Fugees among many others that allow me to sleep through the passenger noise.

Happy Birthday Dad!

I tried to make a surprise birthday cake for Cranky today, but little Bob announced it over and over again when he got home -- "Daddy's birthday cake, Daddy's birthday cake!!!" Oh well -- he smiled and will act surprised for us tonight.

I know this radio commercial has been out for quite some time but it is wicked funny. I guess AirTran didn't think so. I wonder how many people would like to fly on AirTran if they realized it was formerly known as Value Jet? Just wondering:)

I didn't see the Pope but....

I made a quick pass through the Vatican on Christmas Day. As you can see the manger scene in front of St. Peter's was large and impressive. There was also a smaller version inside the church. I found myself wondering how it was constructed -- Was lightweight foam used? How heavy is the roof? Do they keep it in storage during the offseason? Who has the contract for the construction -- locals or Germans? Is this what I'm supposed to be thinking about as I view the manger? (I would also like to add that, although it was raining, lightning did not strike as I entered the church. :))

Most of Rome was closed for the holiday. It seemed like the only people out and about were the tourists, and us, the junior crewmembers who get to work on the holidays. Oh except the umbrella salesmen who were hounding us, even though I already had one. Enjoyed a cappucino near the Pantheon and ate dinner with a Continental crew. I guess it wasn't a bad place to be if I couldn't be home.

On the flight over, I debated with one of the other pilots Evolution vs ID. Yikes, I wish I hadn't brought up the PA ruling. He actually told me there was scientific evidence of ID! Maybe I should have brought up gay marriage instead.....

We celebrated Christmas today. I will be flying Dec.24-26 so Raymond (age 6) wrote a letter to Santa Claus requesting early delivery. Thank goodness he obliged! As usual, we all received more than we needed but everyone is grateful and we had a great day. Even the 2 yr. old waited patiently for his turn to open a present. Mary, 11, is now the proud owner of a laptop and has already worked on her web page. I went for a run this afternoon to try out my new Garmin forerunner 301, which is a GPS/heart monitor/stop watch gizmo. It's great!
